The HIstory Of Photography

John Strognofe in 1685 invented the first camera. some believe that camras where created before time. there were a lot of cameras made before Strognofe created his but none were eligible to be used for photography. Strognofe made the first portable camera. in 1835 Sir John Hershel made photography epic by publicizing his photography and showing the world what he was made of.
people say that the camera was not invented by one person but it was a collaboration of inventions and ideas that created the camera and people came upon it on their own. The camera is a very complex piece of art that creats other art. it is a beautiful invention and i don't know what i would do without it. it captures moments and it is amazing. as they say photo is worth a thousand words.
William Henry Fox Talbot, the son of an army officer, claims that he himself created the invention of photography. he was a member of a British scientific society. he says that he created the image of photography. he says that he made pictures famous and brought it into other peoples name.

Henry Horenstein (Close Relations)

In Henry Horenstein book Closed Relations there were a variety of pictures taken of his close family and friends. The pictures Horenstien took captured the essence of what his family did on a day to day basis and had a variety of different family members and different scenery. I think the message Horenstein was trying to convey in his photos was what an average American family acts, looks and does on a day to day basis. Hoernstein chose very unique fixtures to take his photos he chose backgrounds, (ex. wallpapers, playgrounds, backyards) that he has seen in his life many times but had a fresh spin on it. I think Henry Horenstein's Close Relations book was quiet successful I would just like to see a little more one on one pictures, because many of the pictures have more then one person in it and it gets tiring and busy.

Street photography wrighting assignment

Helen Levitt
Image one: the children seem to be photograph in a neighborhood that they are familiar with, probably in their home town. in this photo the children are climbing up a foyer and standing and fighting with each other while one little boy is struggling to climb it and one is hiding behind a pillar. the boys in this paragraph are most probably neighborhood boys or at leased want to be like the neighborhood bullies. this photograph was probably taken in the sixties or seventies, i can tell it is an old picture because of the quality of the photo and because the photo was taken in black and white. i think that before the photographer took that picture the little boy that is being punch on top was probably picking and pervocing the other boy. right after this was taken the boy climbing probably was stepped onto the window seel and the kid hiding behind the pillar probably moved.

Image two: In this image these people are probably on a long bus ride. the people being photographed are people are random strangers on a bus. this photograph was taken during the times of segregation, you can tell because of the order in which the people are sitting in. it was probably being taken in north america because the north had more citys and the south was rural.i think that te baby girl probably would be blurred or not in the picture at all because she looks like she just settled in. and the black woman would probably not be looking outside, or in that direction, and there wouldn't necessarily be a light hitting the window that blurred that mans face. right after the pictre was taken the little girl probably started crying and the mom probably sat down.
Jill Freedman
Image three: In this picture there is a couple waiting for someone. in this picture there are two people ( a man and woman) and they are leaning against a fence, the woman is stroking her hair and her friend (boyfriend/husband) has his arm around her neck, also the boyfriends shirt has a gun on it that is faceing the girl. this photograph is probably taken in an amusement park. this photograph was probably taken in the fifties. i think that right before this picture was taken the boy said something to piss of the woman or was checking someone out and it bothered her, so she was mad. i think that after the picture was taken they made up and they were back in love.

Questions:
  • What is going on in the picture? Describe what you see in the photograph as if I can't see it.
  • Who are the people being photographed?
  • Where was the photograph taken?
  • When was the photograph taken?
  • What do you think happened right before the photographer snapped the shutter?
  • What do you think happened right after?
  • And lastly, come up with a story of what is happening in the picture (like before, make up names if you want, and just be imaginative. there is no right story)
